OC Register: Raulston’s career ends with roses

RaulstonIt’s not just in the movies where the heroes ride off into the sunset.

Technically, Sgt. Richard Raulston could ride into the sunshine – depending on New Year’s Day weather in Pasadena.

The 30-year Anaheim police officer is retiring, and will appear in uniform one final time Tuesday when he saddles up on Cody, his quarter horse, and joins 14 other Anaheim mounted officers on horseback during the 124th Tournament of Roses Parade.

“Riding in the Rose Parade is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he says. “I couldn’t think of a better way to cap off my career.
