Deployed Sergeant Receives Seven Seal Award

By Amanda Samaan

Sgt. Willie Triplett—currently deployed in Iraq – is this year’s nominee for the Seven Seal Award. Nominated by Chief of Police John Welter for his extraordinary efforts on behalf of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s mission in supporting the nation’s guardsmen, reservists and their families.

Triplett

The Seven Seal Award is symbolic of the seven military reserve components that comprise the Guard and Reserve, and is intended for individuals whose initiative and support promote the ESGR mission.

Triplett, who has had three deployments of 12 months or more since 2001, is currently assigned to the Operations Division as a Patrol Supervisor.

But he’s not the only one up for an award.

Triplett asked that his boss, Capt. Mike Aquino, and Welter, be honored for their support of the military.

“Capt. Aquino continues to show his support of military Reservists and has an open door policy for Reservists to speak with him on any work related issue they may face,” said Triplett. “I feel Capt. Aquino along with the Chief of Police should be eligible for a higher form of recognition, for making showing their support and ensuring Reservists are taken care of.”
