Lt. Miller Joins National Effort to Break A World Reading Record

Lt. Tim Miller will join other community leaders Thursday at the Westfield MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana as part of a national effort to encourage reading.

“Each year, ‘Read for the Record’ has successfully set out to break the world record as adults read the same book on the same day to more than one million children across the country,” said Michael Ruane, Executive Director of the Children and Families Commission of Orange County. “Read for the Record is an important campaign to help raise awareness of the importance of reading with young children.”

Miller is scheduled to read at 10:30 a.m. He will join retired professional baseball player Jay Johnstone, Congressman John Campbell and other community leaders in reading from the book The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats. The event runs from 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m.

“Reading is fun and important,” Miller said. “I’m happy to play a role in encouraging children to make reading a lifelong hobby.”
