The 1-mile “Walk for Peace” ended with a candlelight vigil, attended by about 100 residents. The walk was dedicated to two young men recently gunned down in apparent robbery attempts, according to an Orange County Register report.
Welter told the newspaper that crime prevention starts in the community – neighbors helping neighbors. He urged everybody in attendance to become role models willing to speak out when they see trouble, the newspaper said.
