A recent series of car burglaries in the resort area has led the Tourism-Oriented Policing team to step up patrols.
The thieves are looking for GPS devices and other electronics devices in plain view.
For the past two months, officers have placed flyers on vehicle windshields with tips on how to avoid break-ins. They’ve also warned tourism officials.
“This is a cyclical thing,” Det. Dave Wiggins told KABC-TV. “Relatively new technology, it’s easy to steal, it’s easy to flip on the street.”
Among the tips: hide valuables, devices and other accessories from view.
